Job description

In the Department of Robotics, Perception and Learning (RPL), research is carried out in computer vision, robotics and machine learning. One of the projects that the candidate will work on is the WASP-Aalto collaborative project. We are now looking for a postdoc in robotics and machine learning and computer vision. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research at the highest international level and supervise doctoral and master's students.

This is a two-year position. The start date is determined in consultation with the nearest manager.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a strong academic background. Applicant must have or be in the process of obtaining a PhD in Robotics/Machine Learning/Computer Vision. Applicants should have an outstanding research and publication record. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills are a requirement. We are looking for a highly motivated person who can work independently and in a team. In order to be able to present and publish research results, good oral and written English is required.

Requirement

  • Completed doctoral degree or foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be met at the latest at the time when the employment decision is made.
  • Research expertise in machine learning/robotics. Documented strong programming skills.

Meritorious

  • At the application deadline, no more than three years since the doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree was obtained.
  • Pedagogical ability.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.
  • Collaborative skills.
  • Autonomy.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.
