Third-cycle subject: Chemistry
Doctoral student in biodegradable electrochemical sensors for food monitoring
The doctoral studies will be conducted at the Division of Nanobiotechnology, part of the Department of Protein Science at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab). The position is based in the Organic Bioelectronics Team within the Herland Group and it includes one year of study at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai, China). This project will develop an electrochemical biosensor based on ”organic electrochemical transistors” technology that will be applied to the enzymatic sensing of small molecules. The project will also evaluate and integrate biodegradable components in the sensor design. The work is highly interdisciplinary, including materials development, device fabrication, and integration of recognition elements into the device configuration to fabricate a biosensor. It will address several research challenges, such as the chemistry of the new materials, their biodegradation, the use of new methods of fabrication, and biosensor development. The project is application-focused, developing a fully functional biosensor for real sample analysis.
Supervision: Anna Herland is proposed to supervise the doctoral student. Decisions are made on admission
To be admitted to postgraduate education (Chapter 7, 39 § Swedish Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility in accordance with either of the following:
The applicant should have a master’s degree in nanotechnology, materials engineering, applied physics, or similar. Knowledge and experience in electrochemistry, enzymatic biosensors, enzyme immobilization, and organic electrochemical transistor-based sensors are meritorious.
In addition to the above, there is also a mandatory requirement for English equivalent to English B/6, read more here
