Job description

One postdoctoral position is announced in the Division of Micro and Nanosystems (EECS school, KTH) within the subject area of microfluidics and in vitro diagnostics. The project focuses on developing antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) during miniaturized microbiological culturing, a method previously developed in our group.

Our research group focuses on microfluidic and lab-on-a-chip systems, micro/nanostructured soft matter, biosensors and biomedical microdevices. More information about our research group and our research interests and projects can be found at www.kth.se/profile/wouter.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made. Applicant must have a PhD in Micro and Nanosystems/Microfluidics research. 
  • Good oral and written English are required to present and publish research results.
  •  We look for a candidate with a strong academic background. Applicants must have a strong research and publication record
  • Research expertise in miniaturization in microbiology and microfluidics.
  • Expertise in microfabrication of microfluidics / in vitro diagnostic devices
  • Experience with clinical validation of microfluidic diagnostic tests in a BSL-2 environment
  • Experience in digital image processing.
  • Experience in clinical microbiology and urinary tract infection diagnostics.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills are a requirement.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, three years.
