Job description

Do you have a background within mechatronic, biomedical, mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering profiles and research interests in mechatronic real-time systems, this could be a position for you. 

You will lead the design of a real-time hybrid-mock circulation loop that allows for interaction of an artificial heart with a computational model of the cardiovascular system. You will also adopt the computational model to simulate a representative cohort of patients with heart failure. The artificial heart shall be integrated with the hybrid mock loop for testing and improving its bi-ventricular control algorithm. You will apply data-driven methods to optimize these developments. You are also expected to publish in scientific journals in an independent way. You will also support the coordination of the research group and supervision of students.

Qualifications

Requirements

A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, this eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made. During the selection process, candidates will be assessed upon their

  • Research expertise in related fields
  • Experience of developing and leading activities with multiple stakeholders and staff
  • Ability to structure and prioritize workstreams
  • Ability to pursue independent work
  • Ability to cooperate

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Motivation towards research results being utilized in practice
  • Competence in teaching others
  • Communication skills in interdisciplinary environments
  • Knowledge of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
