The project is aimed at experimental study of optical interactions in nanostructured nonlinear materials. These studies are expected to result in demonstrations of novel functional nonlinear optical component with wide array of applications from ultrafast processes, and remote sensing to quantum technologies. The work will involve design, fabrication and experimental characterization of the nonlinear nanostructures with desired properties related to particular applications.
Structured nonlinear materials allow realization of nonlinear scattering processes with unique properties that are inaccessible using standard interactions. In particular, such properties are important for realizing nonclassical light states and repeaters for quantum communication channels. The technology for realization of nonlinear nanostructures has been developed at KTH over past several years and is unique in terms of efficiency and suitability for practical applications. The work will be mainly focused on demonstration of novel functionality of such nonlinear optical media.
The work will be conducted at KTH Laser Lab research infrastructure facility which offers a broad range of experimental capabilities and a stimulating collaborative research environment.
