Subject description

The subject area advanced characterisation of processes and materials for synthetic and bio-based polymeric materials as well as complex hybrid materials.

Duties

The duties include experimentally oriented research in the subject area, supervision at advanced and postgraduate levels, and teaching at advanced and postgraduate levels. The professor is also expected to contribute to KTH's work in sustainable development and KTH's collaboration with Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron – DESY.

Eligibility

A person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor.

Grounds of assessment

The assessment criteria for appointment as a professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointment procedure, section 1.1, apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of the highest importance is that the applicant has

  • research expertise in the subject area and its applications in the framework of sustainable development, which includes skills in identifying basic research questions related to the fiber and polymer technology and experience in establishing cutting-edge research programs to investigate these. The skills must be demonstrated through scientific publication, conference participation, project management, supervision, participation in research collaborations and other commitments in the scientific community, such as review or expert assignments. It must also include the ability to obtain external research funding.

Of second highest importance that the applicant has

  • teaching skill in the subject area, as well as experience in and interest in and insights regarding pedagogical development in the subject area.
  • skills in developing and leading operations and personnel and cooperation with the environment and society, as well as knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.

It is also important that the applicant has

  • administrative expertise.                              
  • interpersonal skills.
