Job description

In this postdoctoral position you will conduct research in the development of new methods for navigation in GNSS-free underwater environments with small underwater robots and limited sensor equipment. The challenges lie in optimizing the use of available sensors and applying creative new solutions using e.g. SLAM and AI for maximum robustness and precision in navigation. The work spans areas such as theoretical modeling, development of new algorithms, implementation in simulators to full-scale testing at sea with our own underwater robots.

Qualifications

Requirements 

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made
  • Research expertise
  • Teaching abilities
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

As a person you are independent and strongly motivated to work in underwater robotics to push the boundary of how these can be used as essential tools for future sustainable management and care of our oceans. Further, you have a strong research expertise with good collaborative abilities.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.
