The position will be in the electric machines and drives research team at the school of electrical engineering and computer science at KTH.
The electrification of the transport system has the greatest potential for rapidly reducing emissions. Heavy road vehicles, like long-haul trucks and buses, contribute 5-7% of global human emissions and are difficult to electrify due to their long range, high power, and reliability requirements.
The project contributes to the transition to fossil-free transportation by designing a high-voltage (more than 1000 V) electric machine, consequent to the increased system voltage in battery-powered electric powertrains. By using a holistic view that accounts for the whole powertrain, the development of new materials, and the most recent calculation methodologies, we expect to reach results that can be used for the complete integration of the drive system in a vehicle’s rear axle.
The project connects to a large national and a European innovation project involving more than 50 EU partners from industry, academia, and research institutes. It provides excellent opportunities to establish a solid network for a future career.
