The Division of Micro and Nanosystems at the KTH School of Electrical Engineering invites applications for one Ph.D. student position. We are seeking applicants who have a desire to conduct cutting-edge research within the areas of micro and nanoscale 2D material devices for logic/electronic applications. In our collaborative project with international partners, your task will be to develop next-generation devices with dramatically improved, or entirely novel functionalities. As a Ph.D. student you will be part of an interdisciplinary research team that consists of members with different professional and cultural backgrounds. All projects involve both theoretical and experimental tasks as well as cooperation with other scientific disciplines. Experimental work will be conducted in the KTH micro and nano fabrication cleanroom in Stockholm-Kista and the KTH laser lab. The projects engage several fellow Ph.D. students at MST and are supervised by at least two senior researchers.
This recruitment is connected to the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE, wise-materials.org). WISE, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, is the largest-ever investment in materials science in Sweden and will encompass major efforts at Sweden’s foremost universities over the course of 10 years. The candidate is expected to hold a M.Sc. degree in engineering physics, electrical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or a corresponding degree from a major university. A specialization in micro and nanosystems is an asset.

Target degree: Doctoral degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
