We are looking for a research engineer to join the research group of Emma Lundberg at KTH. The group is conducting front line research in the field of spatial proteomics, cell biology and computational image analysis using machine learning. The aim is to map the localizations of human proteins in cells and tissues, to understand variations in protein localization over time and between single cells, and to analyze how changes in protein localizations contribute to functional deviations and human disease. One part of the research group is responsible for the subcellular section of the open access database The Human Protein Atlas (HPA, www.proteinatlas.org).
The research group mainly use antibody-based methods for localizing proteins in cells and tissues. You will be working with cell culture and immunofluorescence (ICC-IF) to study the detailed subcellular distribution of proteins in organelles and other structures at single-cell level. You may also work with multiplexed methods for immunofluorescence (mIF) to study the distribution of proteins between different cell types in tissues, using technologies like CODEX/Phenocycler. For imaging, you will use different versions of fluorescence microscopy. The job assignments will also include basic qualitative and quantitative image analysis.
You will be employed at the institution for Protein Science, which is part of the School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health (CBH) at KTH. The swedish part of Emma Lundberg’s research group is based at Science for Life laboratory in Solna, which is a national center for large scale Life Science research with an advanced technological infrastructure. A second part of the research group is based at Stanford University in California.
