School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for one doctoral student position in the area of integrated development and verification of safety-critical autonomous systems-of-systems for railways. The goal of the project is to develop a model-based integrated framework that supports multi-view analysis of the safety of autonomous systems-of-systems. It should integrate formal modelling, simulation and machine learning to specify and analyse the requirements and architectures of heterogeneous complex systems, e.g., consisting of trains and autonomous cars interacting with each other at the crossing or train control systems communicating with mobile applications of the users to enhance safety of train passage. We aim at building a digital twin that would allow us to study different scenarios using simulation, analyse various architectural solutions and verify their properties as well as create safety monitors and decision-making components allowing the system to learn safe behavior and adapt at run-time.
The doctoral student should be able to work on both – the theoretical foundations of the framework and its application
Third-cycle subject: Computer Science
Supervision: Professor Elena Troubitsyna.
