Job description

KTH runs and develops a future-oriented research and education department within Production Engineering at the School of Industrial Engineering and Management (ITM). We are now expanding the research team in Production Logistics with a researcher position. The position is a 50% position whereof 40% is devoted to research and 10% to teaching. You are able to qualify as a researcher through active participation in projects at the department for Production Engineering, with close collaboration with industry and Science Park.

The position will work within the new Swedish-South Korean research project Dynamic SALSA (Dynamic Scheduling of Assembly and Logistics Systems using AI) on smart production logistics. We will develop methods for structured and automatic collection and processing of large amounts of data, and based on that connect models/decision support for effective follow-up, planning and optimization of complex production and logistics systems. AI and machine learning are used for dynamic scheduling and execution.

The research is done in collaboration with industry, in the Dynamic SALSA project with the Swedish project partners Scania and SIB Solutions, as well as South Korean universities and companies. Participation in national and international research networks and involvement in the research team's project portfolio are also included. You will also be part of ITM school's program IRIS - Research Initiative on Sustainable Industry and Society.

The position includes teaching in production logistics, production and supply chains. You will participate in courses that the research team is responsible for in MSc programs, and possibly professional development courses. Teaching and research are done in Swedish and English, why an ability or ambition to express yourself in Swedish and English in speech and writing facilitates the work.

Qualifications

Requirements

You must have completed a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. The degree must be in production technology, production management, logistics, industrial economics, computer science or an equivalent field that is relevant to smart production logistics. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.

Personal skills

As a person, you have good cooperation skills, are positive and result-oriented with the ability to adapt to new conditions, and have the ability to work independently and enjoy working in an international team and deliver according to set goals.

Preferred qualifications

Your scientific skill and your teaching ability are very important assessment criteria for the position. It is meritorious if you obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctorate no more than three years ago. It is also advantageous to have experience from teaching or collaboration with industrial partners. Finally, we would like to see you demonstrate an awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities when assessing applicants.
