School of Engineering Sciences at KTH

Job description

Rail systems are now experiencing a global renaissance. At KTH we are, not least through the Railway Group, involved in many research projects. Most projects are carried out within the framework of the EU research programmes Shift2Rail and Europe´s Rail, in which we are collaborating with the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) as well as several foreign universities and international companies. We are now looking for a research engineer that can support our work in a number of projects. An important research field for the present position is the energy usage of rail vehicles and rail systems. Often it is then a matter of increasing the energy efficiency of electric rail vehicles and pertinent infrastructure by proposing actions in design and operation.  Tasks typically include simulation and measurement of rail traffic system's energy consumption. Other tasks may also apply.
