School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health at KTH

Job description

Gene therapies based on viral vectors are currently on the rise with several new approvals or therapies based on Adenoassociated viruses (AAVs) in recent years. However, a major bottleneck with these drugs are that they are difficult to produce and bioproduction often result in a low degree of capsids filled with the therapeutic transgene. This makes the manufacturing expensive and unsustainable. We are looking for a doctoral student who will work with the mapping of the cellular landscape during AAV bioproduction to understand what host proteins are interacting with the viruses and impacting the packaging and release of the viruses from the cells. The person we are looking for will work with methods related to viral vector production in mammalian cells as well as analysis and purification of viral particles. The project will include methods such as RNAseq analysis, molecular cloning, immunoprecipitation, confocal microscopy, ELISA and western blotting. We are looking for a person that is driven and has a great analytical capacity.
