School of Architecture and Built Environment at KTH

Job description

The new mobility solutions have so far mainly been available in the densely populated inner city and in certain peripheral areas. There, public transport is well developed and in many cases competitive from the perspective of price, travel time ratio and availability. However, it  also comes with the condition that the traveler must adapt to departure times, seat availability, stops and prevailing accessibility along the route. Perceived security is also a factor that comes into play and is very individual.

Further away from the city limits, public transport's travel share, competitiveness and attractiveness decrease. When and if new mobility solutions are established in urban peripheries, it will potentially contribute to behavioral changes in the choice of means of transport. But there are different conditions with different starting points, references and norms than in the inner city. The project is based on this premise. Research plan is to conduct literature review and meta analysis. Existing data as well as scenarios where new mobility solutions (e.g. mobility hubs) established to varying degrees will be adopted and modelled
