The purpose of the project is to study insulation systems for high voltage power transformers that are based on a new type of biodegradable and sustainable manufactured insulation liquid, i.e. not based on traditional mineral oil.
The project will specifically focus on ageing processes of the transformer insulation system based on cellulose and the new sustainable insulation liquids.
The project is part of KTH’s strategic collaboration with IIT Madras in Chennai, India and the doctoral candidate is expected to stay in total a period of 12 months at IIT Madras. The period can be divided into shorter period, depending on the need from the project. Within the project there will also be collaborations with leading transformer manufacturers and utilities of power transformers.
Suitable candidates has a background in electrical engineering or engineering physics with a large interest in performing physical experiments with applications towards high voltage engineering. Target degree: Doctoral Degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time. In the case of studies that are to be completed with a licentiate degree, the total period of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education for two years.
