Spatial Genomics with specialization in Multi-Kingdom Applications.

Subject description

The subject comprises development and applications of experimental methods and bioinformatics for the study of the spatial organization of DNA molecules and RNA molecules relative to the tissue architecture of organisms. The subject is specifically aimed at developing and utilizing methods for large-scale sequencing-based spatial genomics studies on a broad spectrum of organisms, including applications on plant tissues and microbial information.

Duties

The duties include establishing and operating research activities within the subject field, primarily for the development of new methodologies that can lead to applications for analysis across the biological kingdoms (plants, animals and microbes). The duties also include conducting and developing teaching at basic level, advanced level and research level in the fields of large-scale spatial genomics and bioinformatics.

Eligibility

Those qualified for appointment as an associate professor are persons who have:

  1. been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve, and
  2. demonstrated teaching expertise.

Grounds of assessment
The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.2., apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is that the applicant has

  • research expertise in the subject field
  • teaching skills in the subject field

Of second highest importance that the applicant has

  • expertise to develop and lead activities and staff. This includes knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality
  • the ability to pursue third-stream activities and also provide information about research and development work
  • documented experience of collaboration with the industry
  • interpersonal skills

It is also important that the applicant has

  • administrative expertise, which includes administration of economy and projects
