School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health at KTH

Job description

We are looking for a postdoc in theoretical chemistry with focus on light-induced processes in photoactive proteins, for a joint project “Enligthening biology: bridging time-resolved experiments in silico” between the Department of Chemistry, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and the Department of Science and Technology, Linköping University.

Within this project, two postdocs will work on developing and applying workflows and methods to enable (1) automated and systematic QM/MM excited-state dynamics simulations of photoactive proteins (this postdoc position) and (2) extraction of meaningful information from the complex, feature-rich simulation data with the aim to elucidate the functional core of photobiological systems and contribute to our knowledge base for designing new photoactive proteins with potential use in life sciences. This position will drive the QM/MM simulation side but will work in close collaboration with the other postdoc to facilitate the development of novel analysis and visualization techniques.

You will be employed in Nanna H. List's group which is a part of the Division of Applied Physical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry. As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.

The project is financed by two of the largest research programs in Sweden, the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) and the SciLifeLab and Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS), with the ultimate goal of solving ground-breaking research questions across disciplines.
