School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH

Job description

The Division of Electric Power and Energy Systems is now looking to hire a Postdoc to work in a project that aims to develop optimal control and operation strategies for sector-coupled energy systems. A Postdoc in power electronics and a Postdoc in power systems will work together in this project. You will be a part of a research group in an international university environment under the supervision of Assistant Professor Qianwen Xu. The employment is placed at the Division of Electric Power and Energy Systems at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

Project context: Moving towards a climate-neutral society, future energy systems will have wide utilization of renewable energy, as well as decarbonization of industrial and transportation sectors. Thus, energy coupling among electricity, heating, hydrogen, and emobility is becoming stronger and forming as sector-coupled energy systems. However, sector-coupled energy systems have different requirements and high complexities, that it is challenging to achieve overall optimal control and operation solutions.  This project aims to develop optimal control and operation strategies for sector-coupled energy systems.

This project is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency.
