The Division of Decision and Control Systems and the Division of Network and Systems Engineering are looking for two doctoral students with a very strong background and interest in control systems, mathematics, Bayesian inference, and modeling. The successful candidates will join a project on developing rigorous, novel tools for the fundamental understanding and engineering design of secure networked control systems. In particular, the focus will lie on the development of quantitative risk analysis tools for networked control systems with machine learning components and of algorithms for the detection of cyber-physical attacks, within the framework of a new WASP-project.
The Division of Decision and Control Systems and the Division of Network and Systems Engineering conduct fundamental research in networked control systems, cyber-physical systems, system identification, and transport systems. Industrial projects involve partners such as ABB, Ericsson, and Scania. A major part of the research is conducted within the framework of the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program WASP. We have an extensive academic network and collaborate with researchers at Caltech, MIT, UC Berkeley, UIUC, Stanford, among others.
