The AICell Lab (https://aicell.io) in the department of Applied Physics at KTH and Science for Life Laboratory is a new research group funded by the Data-driven Life Science Fellows program. The group, led by Wei Ouyang, focuses on building AI systems for data-driven cell and molecular biology. As part of the research goal, the lab is actively involved in open science initiatives to promote open source tools and platforms for next-generation data-driven life science. 

We are actively seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to our collaboration with the AI4Life consortium (https://ai4life.eurobioimaging.eu), a recent initiative funded by the EU Horizon program, aiming to bridging computer and life sciences and promoting FAIRness of AI tools. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in meticulously testing and refining our collaborative web and cloud platforms, proactively engaging with the life science community, and establishing robust relationships with academic and industrial stakeholders. Responsibilities encompass close collaboration with our development team, advocating for our tools, pinpointing new use cases, and devising innovative solutions and bespoke applications to address user requirements. Prospective candidates should demonstrate a profound understanding of data-driven methodologies in life science, along with familiarity with the challenges posed by data management and analysis tools. Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • The ability to express yourself in English, as it is required in daily work. 

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Open Science Advocacy: Demonstrated enthusiasm for advancing open science and open-source endeavors.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Proven ability to initiate collaborations and actively engage with the scientific community.
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in effectively interacting with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Data Management & AI Expertise: Solid understanding of data management challenges and AI applications in life sciences.
  • Bioinformatics & Development Proficiency: Experience in bioimaging, bioinformatics, scientific software development, and proficiency in Python.
  • Independence: Ability to drive projects autonomously, while effectively contributing to team goals.
  • Diversity Awareness: Commitment to fostering diversity and gender equality in research.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
