School of Engineering Sciences at KTH

Job description

Quantum key distribution (QKD) is a well-established technique for distributing secret keys between multiple parties for data encryption. The researcher recruited on this position will develop and evaluate quantum-secured QKD systems and error code correction protocols for optical information processing within the EU's national quantum communication infrastructure in Sweden (NQCIS). You will work in the KTH Albanova group for nonlinear and quantum photonics (NQP) led by prof. Katia Gallo, who is also the coordinator of NQCIS. Within this framework, we are looking for a highly motivated candidate who can contribute to the establishment of a quantum testbed in Stockholm, the development of quantum-secure communication protocols with low energy consumption, as well as the implementation and evaluation of QKD systems with field tests in the Stockholm metropolitan region and on long-distance links in Sweden, in collaboration with academic and industrial actors. The project offers the opportunity to gain experience in large-scale system experiments with the latest QKD technology and to work with real use cases in an international and collaborative research environment.
