We invite highly motivated candidates to apply for the full-time doctoral student position in Computer Science (with a specialization in high-performance computing) at ScaLab (https://kth-scalab.github.io/). ScaLab focuses on designing and optimizing algorithms, systems software, and architecture to improve the scalability of large-scale parallel computing. The doctoral students will work in a diversified research group, closely interacting with leading research groups in Europe and USA.
Candidates with experience in Linux kernel development, k8s, or large-scale parallel applications are welcome to apply. The position will work on the co-design for the computing continuum from high-performance computing to cloud. The research targets heterogeneous computing systems, including multi-core processors, GPUs and smartNIC, and HBM and NVM memories. The doctoral students will research novel system solutions to be integrated into Kubernetes plugins, runtimes, and libraries to improve the scalability and efficiency of applications. The student is expected to publish research outcomes with open access to peer-reviewed conferences and contribute to project tasks.

Target degree: Doctoral degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time. In the case of studies that are to be completed with a licentiate degree, the total period of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education for two years.
