Job description

We're in search of a passionate and well-versed postdoc to advance our electrocatalyst research for catalytic water splitting. The research will be carried out at the Department of Chemistry. Your role will focus on synthesizing and characterizing molecularly well-defined heterogeneous water oxidation and hydrogen evolution catalysts, and potentially supervising students as part of your responsibilities. The candidate will also be expected to participate in international research collaboration and the collaborative writing of high-impact papers.

Qualifications

Requirements

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in a subject relevant to the research, such as organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, or electrochemistry. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Scientific skills with relevant doctorate, i.e., with experience in transition metal complexes characterization and electrochemical methods applied to catalysis.
  • Further experience in photoelectrochemical cells of catalysis systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborative in a group.
  • The ability to skillfully communicate in English, verbally and in writing, since this is required in the daily work.

Preferred qualifications

It is preferred that you also have:

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Teaching abilities.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality.

In addition to basic chemistry and skills, experience in interdisciplinary work and expertise in photoelectrochemical systems are counted as merits. In-depth knowledge of molecular catalysts, heterogeneous reaction kinetics, and photovoltaic materials, as well as in-situ spectroscopies and synchrotron-based X-ray techniques and spectroscopies, are also advantages.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment
