This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage the synergy between experimental and computational approaches to fundamental questions about human cognitive capabilities. In particular, the successful applicant will capitalise on the vibrant interdisciplinary environment sustained by a strategic collaboration between the Division of Psychology at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet and Computational Brain Science lab, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
The goal of the project is to develop mathematical models of the brain and use them for large-scale simulations of cortical memory function. Special focus is on coupling multiple neural networks to study neural interactions between different cortical regions supporting cognitive function. You are expected to build neural networks models, analyse simulation data, interpret the results and evaluation of the model’s compatibility with heterogeneous experimental data.
Third-cycle subject: Computer Science with specialisation in Computational Biology
Supervision: Associate Prof. Pawel Herman
To be admitted to postgraduate education (Chapter 7, 39 § Swedish Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility in accordance with either of the following:
The applicant's degree education is expected to be in the field of computer science, engineering physics/math, cognitive science or related areas.
In addition to the above, there is also a mandatory requirement for English equivalent to English B/6, read more here
