Urban mobility is changing rapidly due to new business models, and upcoming technological advancements like connected and automated mobility.

The Division of Transport and Systems Analysis at KTH is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a postdoctoral research position in Transportation Policy. The successful applicant will investigate future mobility scenarios focusing on policy solutions like congestion pricing. With the ultimate objectives of mitigating traffic congestion, enhancing accessibility, and improving social welfare, the postdoc will employ methodologies such as activity-based agent-based modeling, social welfare theory, and distributional analysis.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in Transportation or related subjects (e.g., Civil Engineering, Urban Planning) . This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Experience with activity-based agent-based models in the transport field (e.g., MATSim)
  • Experience in Transportation Policy and Economics
  • Experience with activity-based transportation models
  • Ability to fluently communicate in English, written and oral, as this will be required in day-to-day work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Knowledge of programming tools (e.g., JAVA, C++, Python)
  • Familiarity with travel demand modeling and accessibility analysis
  • Proven research expertise (e.g., publications in peer-reviewed journals)
  • Proven teaching abilities (e.g., active support in MSc. courses)
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, two years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
