Department of Biomedical Engineering and Health Systems in Flemingsberg is looking for one research assistant during the year 2024 for a total of 150-200h. The candidate will work closely together with a doctoral student in conducting human-subject studies for cardiovascular wearable technologies. The study participants are older adults and heart failure patients. The studies will be carried out in KTH Flemingsberg and they will last 3 hours each. The timing of each study will be planned together with the doctoral student. This position involves active engagement with study participants in Swedish, as well as responsibilities related to preparing and managing measurement setups or active documentation of each phase of the study protocol. In addition, there may be some administrative work.

The candidate will gain hands-on experience in planning and conducting human-subject studies in the context of cardiovascular disease, as well as basic techniques related to biosignal acquisition (ECG, EMG), measurement tools, ultrasound and common measurement tests of functional capacity used in research. The research environment will promote the development of problem-solving and teamworking skills.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Applicants should be proficient in Swedish as this is will be required in day-to-day work
  • We are looking for an independent person with good collaboration abilities, strong interpersonal and communication skills and attention to details.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience in human-centered roles is key (customer-facing, teaching, social work)
  • Technical affinity to biosignal acquisition and measurement tools is a merit
  • Basic understanding of research methodology in human study protocol is a merit
  • Familiarity with ethical guidelines is recommendable
  • Applicants should be a KTH student in a bachelor or master program

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
