KTH MoveAbility Group seek a postdoc researcher in biomechanics of human movement, with a focus on development and innovation of assistive devices. Our research focuses on technology to decode, predict and enhance human movements, with an extra focus on people with motor disabilities. The KTH MoveAbility research group is part of the Department of Engineering Mechanics. The Promobilia MoveAbility Lab is a well-equipped experimental research infrastructure, centrally located on KTH's campus, and in close collaboration with an interdisciplinary network of clinical and technical researchers and healthcare professionals. The research group is financed by the Promobilia Foundation, the Swedish Research Council, Digital Futures, and the European Commission, among others. Our research activities have goals to investigate fundamental factors that contribute to movement abnormalities, studying the development and progression of overuse injuries, studying the neuromuscular system and its control, and the development of robotic movement aids. Our research methods include experiments, modeling/simulation and data-driven algorithms. The growing group is multicultural and multidisciplinary.
This postdoc position is funded by the Promobilia Foundation and Digital Futures, and focuses on assistive ankle devices that facilitate walking. This project will involve prototype development and construction, biomechanical modeling and simulation, experiments on human subjects, product innovation, scientific publication, and help with supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. It is therefore a requirement that the successful candidate has experience with, besides scientific publication, movement data collection on humans, including ethical issues and study design involved in research on human subjects, as well as prototype development, some mechatronics, and gait analysis.
