Joakim Lundeberg, Ph.D., Professor in Molecular Biotechnology, was a co-founder of Science for Life Laboratory Sweden in 2010, a national and multi-university effort in large-scale life sciences providing access to infrastructures such as genomics, and proteomics, imaging, metabolomics, and drug development. Dr. Lundeberg has, during the most recent years, focused on spatial transcriptomics that enables a detailed description of gene expression patterns in tissue sections. Dr. Lundeberg has publications demonstrating the development of the technology but also examples of the impact of spatial analysis in biology. The current research focuses on expanding the spatial modalities and developing new software tools and applications in human cell atlas, and disease.
Third-cycle subject: Biotechnology
The planned Ph.D. work will be carried out at Science for Life Laboratory Stockholm, a national and multi-university effort in large-scale life sciences providing access to infrastructures such as genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, imaging, metabolomics, and drug development. The Lundeberg laboratory has, during the most recent years, focused on spatial transcriptomics that enables a detailed description of gene expression patterns in tissue sections. The laboratory has publications demonstrating the development of the technology but also examples of the impact of spatial analysis in biology. The current research focuses on expanding the spatial modalities and developing new software tools and applications in human cell atlas and disease. We now seek a new Ph.D. to carry out new bioinformatics spatial workflows using next-generation sequencing data. We will prioritize candidates with experience in spatial bioinformatics work, such as spatial transcriptomics as well as single-cell RNA sequencing analysis
