Project EDGE: Develop cost-effective sensors architecture with edge computing capabilities for damage detection. The work focuses on developing (1) a decision support tool to optimize the architecture of sensors with edge computing capabilities, and (2) a machine learning algorithm for the classification of the considered damage scenarios trained, verified, and validated using laboratory and real data. The recruited candidate will spend one secondment period in Italy at the bridge monitoring company Sacertis and the university Politecnico di Milano.

Project NEURAL: Develop prognostic deterioration models based on sensor data and machine learning for service life prediction. The work focuses on developing (1) machine learning algorithms for deterioration prediction and possible assemble methods for optimized predictions, and (2) guidelines on how to setup and train the machine learning tool. The recruited candidate will spend one secondment period in Spain at the bridge engineering company Pedelta.
