Subject description

In business studies, private and public companies and organizations' conditions, activities and cooperation with various stakeholders in society are studied. It includes studies in marketing, entrepreneurship, organization and leadership, financing and investment as well as accounting and financial management. The subject field focuses on customer relations in the built environment with application in real estate and finance. This includes a distinct sustainability perspective in both research and education.

Duties

The associate professor is expected to build an independent research activity with a clear element of collaboration with various societal stakeholders. This includes applying for external research funding as well as supervising doctoral students and postdocs. Teaching also includes supervision of degree projects and participation in the department's courses within the subject field at first level, advanced level and postgraduate level.

The duties also include actively participating in any faculty assignments at KTH, potentially also with responsibility and management assignments, and contributing to the academic environment.

The associate professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. If necessary, a language plan is drawn up as support in connection with employment.

Eligibility

Those qualified for appointment as an associate professor are persons who have:

  1. have completed a doctorate or possess equivalent scientific expertise or some other professional expertise that is of significance with regard to the subject content of the employment and the duties that are required of the employment, and
  2. demonstrated pedagogical expertise.

Assessment criteria

The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise

required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH

appointments procedure, section 1.2., apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

It is of the highest importance that the applicant has

  • pedagogical expertise in the subject field.
  • scientific expertise in the subject field.

It is of the next highest importance that the applicant has

  • expertise in developing and leading activities and staff. For that purpose, the individual is to be knowledgeable about diversity and equal opportunity issues, particularly gender equality.
  • the ability to cooperate with the outside community for mutual exchange and having acted to ensure that the knowledge and skills found at the university benefit society.
  • ability to collaborate.

It is also of importance that the applicant has

  • administrative expertise.
