Third-cycle subject: Production Engineering
We invite applications for a doctoral student in research on Circular Manufacturing Systems (CMS) and their implementation. The position is to a licentiate degree, with the possibility to extend to a PhD degree. The successful candidate will join a research team within the department of production engineering that is carrying out state-of-the-art research aiming to help the European manufacturing industry transform its linear model into circular manufacturing model. This entails a fundamentally new approach to resources and their conservation, initiated at the conceptual design stage of products with a rigorous insight into the entire lifecycle of the products.
The candidate will mainly work on a Horizon Europe-funded project, DiCiM (www.dicim.eu) that aims to digitalize the value recovery activities in major manufacturing sectors. The candidate will also contribute to nationally funded projects connected to the CMS research, in close collaboration with Swedish manufacturing industry. The candidate is expected to generate short-term research ideas for student projects and/or hypothesis testing that can lead to potential long-term research ideas.
Supervision: Assistant professor Farazee Asif is proposed to supervise the doctoral student. Decisions are made on admission.

Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time. In the case of studies that are to be completed with a licentiate degree, the total period of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education for two years.
