SciLifeLab was founded in 2010 as a joint venture between four universities: Karolinska Institutet (KI), Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm University (SU), and Uppsala University (UU). Today, SciLifeLab is an internationally leading research center that provides a unique environment. Researchers and engineers at SciLifeLab develop, use, and offer advanced techniques to increase understanding of vital processes at the molecular level, focusing on health and the environment. SciLifeLab’s national infrastructure supports research activities at all Swedish universities, as well as in healthcare and industry. Bioinformatics and systems biology are important activities within SciLifeLab, and a significant part of SciLifeLab’s staff work in these areas.

You will be working as a researcher in the team for strategic relations at the National Genomics Infrastructure (NGI), one of Europe’s largest sequencing facilities, at SciLifeLab in Stockholm. In the group for strategic relations, we work on developing entirely new technology, establishing new technical platforms, and further developing NGI’s platforms to give Swedish researchers access to the latest methods in large-scale DNA and RNA sequencing. We also coordinate collaborations between NGI and both industry and academia.

Your role will be varied and you will be involved in many types of tasks. These include, among others:

• Design and development of new sequencing-based techniques and applications.
• Bioinformatics and analysis of data from development projects and collaborations.
• Work in collaborative projects with academia and companies.
• Write scientific articles and tech-notes on the research conducted at NGI.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Earned doctorate or foreign degree that is considered equivalent to a doctorate.
• Completed doctoral thesis where the work combined molecular biology and bioinformatics. 
• Is well acquainted with working in a laboratory.
• Has extensive experience in bioinformatics analysis and sequencing-based molecular biology.
• Has a deep understanding of molecular biology/biochemistry and sequencing-based technology.
• Can author scientific articles.
• Speaks and writes English fluently as it is required in daily work.

Preferred qualifications

• You have a problem-solving analytical ability, enjoy taking on new challenges, and can draw conclusions from your analyses. 
• You have good communication skills in both speech and writing. 
• It is of utmost importance that you have good teamwork skills. 
• You should be aware of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality. 

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment
