Job description

The division of Energy Systems is seeking a Research Engineer to work in Energy Data Management in the UK FCDO funded Climate Compatible Growth project. In this project, we are working with the Ministry of Energy in Kenya and Zambia to examine and prototype data repositories and data catalogues to support findable and accessible data. You will work within a small team at KTH and lead technical work on cleaning, annotating and storing energy, spatial and bibliometric datasets, managing metadata, and supporting the software infrastructure enabling these activities.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence. 
  • A post-graduate degree in computer science, physics, energy, or related technical topic
  • A high standard of spoken and written English as it is used in daily work
  • You must have experience of programming applications using Python, databases (relational, graph or triple stores), SQL and spreadsheets
  • Experience working with energy datasets
  • You are able to work independently
  • It is relevant for the employment that you can demonstrate subject-related skills and professional skills. 

Preferred qualifications

  • As a person you are professional, courteous and understanding when working across cultural boundaries
  • You have awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
  • You have good collaborative abilities work well with others.
  • You enjoy making technical information understandable and extracting technical requirements from non-technical conversations
