School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH

Job description

Hydrogen is one of the few solutions for difficult-to-manage emissions of greenhouse gases in industry. The Ovako hydrogen plant in Hofors was inaugurated in 2023 and became the world's first industrial production of steel with hydrogen for heating. This project studies operating advantages for industry and sector connections with electricity grids and heavy transport, starting from Ovako's facility in Hofors. This project is a continued preliminary study to the completed project "Hydrogen for industrial heat with flexibility for electricity grid and a sector coupling to transport". The focus of this continuing project will be on developing a system demonstrator. The conditions are now in place when the facility is ready for full operation. But the development of a refueling station is required, which is an important first step in the facility's potential as an enabler of a hydrogen economy and will be the focus of this project. Tasks for this position involve carrying out analyses, keeping documentation and leading the work with reporting and an important part is dialogues with project partners and a close collaboration with the project coordinator.
