Job description

The Division of Fluid Mechanics aims to conduct excellent research in fluid mechanics and offer high-quality teaching. A prerequisite is a well-organized laboratory operation with experimental infrastructure that is internationally competitive. Therefore, we are seeking a laboratory manager who will become a key contributor to our long-term work in organizing and operating our fluid physics laboratory. You are structured and will keep track of advanced measurement systems, plan laboratory exercises in dialogue with teachers, and support world-leading research activities. You will be offered continuous professional development in technology and administration.

We are looking for a laboratory manager who will:

• Be responsible for ensuring the lab is safe (procedures for handling chemicals, lasers, drafting user agreements, etc.)
• Be responsible for the practical functioning of the lab (inventory, equipment, software updates, communication with workshops and technical staff, etc.) with a system that suits different research groups
• Acquire and maintain a fundamental competence in instruments/infrastructure
• Be responsible for planning and developing teaching labs
• Report to and be part of the laboratory management team

The laboratory manager will be granted autonomy and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

Requirements

•  BSc in Engineering, MSc in Engineering or other relevant education in science or technology
• Knowledge in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, optics, or other relevant technical fields
• Practical skills in both hardware and software
• Responsible
• Solution-oriented
• Good interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication in Swedish and English since it's required in the daily work
• Independent

Preferred qualifications

• Project management training
• Courses in Fluid Mechanics
• Experience in laboratory work and/or administration
• Experience in project work
• Management experience in private, public, or non-profit organizations
• Driven and motivated to improve procedures
• Good prioritization skills
• Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
• Collaborative abilities

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
