School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH

Job description

6G networking is supposed to cater towards new use cases, which will integrate communication and computing in novel and highly dependent ways. A new application class, summarized as the Cyber-Physical Continuum, will be enabled by 6G networks, allowing entirely new use cases with unprecedented utility to societies. Nevertheless, these new opportunities are associated with an ever-increasing complexity of future networked systems. It is commonly accepted in the academic and industrial research community that AI will play here a pivotal role in efficiently managing such future networks despite the complexity increase.

Our research group is focusing on science paving the way towards 6G networks, with a particular emphasis on the dependable Cyber-Physical Continuum. Our research agenda is supported through several leading large initiatives like the research center on edge computing at KTH – TECoSA (https://www.tecosa.center.kth.se/ ) as well as the SNS project Deterministic6G. For these and further activities we are seeking in this call postdoc candidates with the ambition to lead research in the domain of 6G and AI. The position comprises, on the one hand, research on leveraging AI at run-time to support 6G networks fulfilling complex application requirements as encountered with Cyber-Physical Systems. On the other hand, we are pursuing novel AI architectures, for instance leveraging causality, with respect to upcoming novel components in 6G systems. In general, our research is aiming at driving upcoming architectures of 6G networks in combination with industrial partners. The position involves collaborations within our research group as well as with other research groups from different disciplines and universities. It will also comprise collaborations with industrial partners.
