School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH

Job description

Driven by environmental concerns and development towards a sustainable society, future power systems will have a high penetration of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power. This in turn leads to a high penetration of power converters as they form the interface to the grid from the renewable energy sources. Power converters bring new stability challenges due to low inertia, fast dynamics, high order nonlinearities, and strong interactions. On the other hand, converters have full controllability. This project aims to develop smart converters for stable operation of future sustainable power systems and microgrids using advanced control and AI.
