The PDC Center for High Performance computing at KTH is a leading infrastructure for academic computational research in Sweden. PDC operates national supercomputing resources, including the currently fastest academic supercomputer in Sweden, Dardel, an 8.26 Pflop/s HPE Cray EX235a with over 400 GPUs. With leading researchers in their fields, PDC is active in several high-profile European research projects including the BioExcel Centre of Excellence (www.bioexcel.eu) as well as GANANA, an upcoming collaboration project between EU and India.

We are looking for a researcher to participate in the technical, training, dissemination and project management activities in the HPC Scientific Software group at PDC. The activities will be on 1) developing of workflow solutions around GROMACS and related biomolecular tools, 2) developing training material (tutorials and courses), as well as dissemination and outreach material, 3) delivering workshops and seasonal schools, 4) supporting the biomolecular simulation community and 5) supporting project management activities in BioExcel and GANANA.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in a field related to the activities. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Practical experience in using HPC systems 
  • Strong background in biophysics
  • Strong expertise in Molecular Dynamics simulations and experience in working with GROMACS. 
  • Excellent command of English as the working language since a large part of the work involves international collaborative projects. 

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Practical experience in performing molecular dynamics simulations on HPC systems at large scale.
  • Practical experience in developing training material (tutorials) and delivering trainings such as workshops. Teaching experience will also be an additional merit.
  • Be able to write documentation and present technical work aimed at different target groups in both Swedish and English. 
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality. 
  • It is very important that you can both work well independently, as well as being able to collaborate effectively within the group. Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, two years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
