Job description

The division of Energy Systems at the Department of Energy Technology, KTH, is looking for a full-time research engineer who shall support climate, land use, energy and water systems (CLEWs) modelling work using the tool OSeMOSYS for 6 months. The work is part of a technical assistance project where KTH, in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, is co-creating CLEW model applications together with a core working group of experts from various ministries of the governments of Laos and Zambia. The ultimate goal of the effort is to create long-standing model infrastructure for analysing scenarios relevant to NDC updates or national development plans, which the government and other institutions may own and use locally at the need. The day-to-day work will consist in developing CLEWs applications for Laos and Zambia, while regularly collecting inputs and feedback directly from the country counterparts and UNDESA. The research engineer will also support more experienced modellers and trainers during online exchanges and training sessions with the country counterparts.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence. 
  • Excellent proficiency in English, as the role requires work to be conducted in the language
  • Knowledge of energy systems analysis and modelling is required.
  • Experience with the modelling tool OSeMOSYS for energy and CLEWs application is required.

About the employment
