Job description

The Light and Matter Physics Division performs basic and applied research in various scientific areas, including quantum materials. The Postdoctoral candidate will be part of the Quantum Technology & Materials group, which works on elaborating and characterizing quantum materials, ranging from superconductors to magnetic topological quasiparticles. Various experiments are conducted in in-house laboratories and large-scale facilities. Over the years, a fruitful collaboration with theoreticians has also been established.
Primary responsibilities: Your work focuses engineering interfaces of various transition metal compounds and characterise their qualities. You must write beamtime proposals, travel to conduct experiments, perform data analysis, communicate research results orally at international conferences and in writing in scientific journals, and develop research ideas. You are expected to interact with MSc students, Ph.D. students, and postdoctoral researchers.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • A doctoral degree in Physics, Material Physics, Applied Physics.
  • As a person, you are driven, ready to take up new challenges, and supervise students.
  • You must have strong expertise in running experiments at large-scale facilities, especially in x-ray and neutron reflectometry, and transmission electron microscopy.
  • You must have a strong expertise in thin-film growth, especially in the sputtering of transition metal diboride.
  • Expert in interface heterostructures
  • Teaching abilities in English and/or Swedish, as it is required in the daily work.
  • Collaborative abilities

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Simulation of x-ray and neutron reflectometry data using GenX is a plus.
  • Independence
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment
