School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH

Job description

Organoids are powerful tools to model human biology in vitro, but high variability continues to present significant challenges. We are seeking an enthusiastic transdisciplinary researcher to help us tackle this by integrating advanced machine learning, robotic control, and electrochemical sensing. You will be embedded in and supported by two dynamic and welcoming research teams, those of Prof. Miliou at Stockholm University (Data Science) and of Prof. Winkler at KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Micro- and Nanosystems), and be part of the Digital Futures initiative.

In your varied role, you will design, conduct, analyze, and disseminate research across multiple domains, likely to entail: (a) adapting a liquid handling robot to our requirements and integrating it with sensing capabilities; (b) developing a computational framework that can leverage sensor-based predictive machine learning for robotic control; and (c) evaluating organoid maturation under a range of feeding regimens using qPCR and imaging. Besides collaboration with existing team members, you will also supervise junior researchers to help move the project forward – with the ultimate goal of greatly reducing inter- and intra-batch variability and thus greatly improving their information value for both basic biomedical research and drug development.
