Job description

We are looking for a research engineer with a genuine interest in materials chemistry, biomaterials, glycobiology, and microbiology, and who has a strong drive and problem-solving ability. The applicant will participate in an ongoing project focused on new methods for the analysis of bio-based materials. This interdisciplinary research project aims to integrate expertise and laboratory methods from the aforementioned fields to develop new analytical techniques for bio-based materials through experimentation.

The research is conducted in interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers in polymer technology and biomedicine.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence. 
  • Experience with advanced biomaterials, glycobiology, and microbiological techniques with a focus on bacteriology, microscopy, and spectroscopy.
  • Documented training in fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, and image analysis.
  • Experience working in BSL2 classified laboratories.
  • Experience in research within interdisciplinary fields.
  • Experience in microscopy and spectroscopy, especially fluorescence-based techniques.
  • Microscopy experience with both bio-based materials and metals.
  • Demonstrated good laboratory practice.
  • Experience with documentation in electronic lab notebooks.
  • Ability to analyze and work with complex issues.
