Job description

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to develop and improve models and codes for assessment of the liquid source term during severe accident (SA) of LWR systems. In particular, research will include assessment of the characteristics of the containment water pool by system code, thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of Cs and Sr chemistry including model development and its implementation to the system codes. This project is contributing to the larger EU project SOCRATES which addresses the critical gaps in understanding of the liquid source term during SA and offers innovative solutions to mitigate and monitor the release of radionuclides into the environment.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Doctoral degree in nuclear engineering, nuclear power safety, radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry or similar, with extensive experience in material science, severe accident (SA) research and safety analyses. 

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Here you fill in knowledge and skills that are meritorious for the position, in case of any language requirements, justification is required. Contact HR if you have any questions.
  • Knowledge and experience from using SA system codes.
  • Knowledge and experience from using Thermodynamic tools for composition equilibrium assessment.
  • Good communicative skills, teamwork competence and collaborative skills, as well as capability to work independently.
  • Motivation and dedication to research work is a very strong merit.
  • Teaching experience is an advantage.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

About the employment
