School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health at KTH

Job description

Our research group at KTH is in the School of Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Health (CBH) and is based at Science for Life Laboratory, a well-regarded research campus. We apply genetic engineering to create microbial strains for carbon uptake and bioproduction. We are hiring a postdoc with experience in molecular biology and enzymology to lead and participate in new projects with the aim to create new enzymes with increased/altered activity and stability. A primary project is a collaboration with the Swedish Research Institute RISE, to develop new enzymes for cellulose modification. Another project involves design of new enzymes for CO2 conversion. These enzymes will be created by combining novel protein design tools and screening methods. There is also opportunity to participate in projects where enzymes are used in vivo. The postdoc will participate in many aspects of the workflow. New enzyme sequences are designed using bioinformatics and physics-based methods, and the postdoc will collaborate with computational biologists in the group. The postdoc is also expected to help train incoming lab members in molecular biology techniques.
