School of Industrial Engineering and Management at KTH

Job description

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow in Circular Manufacturing Systems (CMS). We see circularity as a core area for industrial production that will contribute to the transition required for a sustainable society through interdisciplinary approaches. The successful candidate will join a research team that is carrying state-of-the-art research aiming to help the European manufacturing industry transform its linear model into circular manufacturing model. This entails a fundamentally new approach to resources and their conservation, initiated at the conceptual design stage of products with a rigorous insight into the entire lifecycle of the products.

The candidate will work on both nationally and internationally funded projects which aim to facilitate the implementation of a circular economy in manufacturing sector. The candidate will work on developing tools to ease the use of advanced manufacturing techniques in combination with conventional processes to improve and implement the circularity strategy: repairing, refurbishing, remanufacturing and recycling. During the period of employment, the postdoctoral fellow will primarily conduct research, enhance their independence as a researcher, and create opportunities for further qualifications. The postdoctoral fellow may also be involved in and contribute to teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and postgraduate levels.
