The Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Engineering (SEED) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to develop and apply methods for prospective Life Cycle Assessment (pLCA) for Sustainable by Design (SSbD) green chemistry. You will collaborate with laboratory case studies at Stockholm University, focusing on development of recyclable heterogenous catalysts and production of thermosetting material from lignin. The aim is to propose a “toolbox” for pLCA of green chemistry to guide product and process design at low TRL. Important elements of the project will involve identifying of critical aspects of green chemistry in a life cycle perspective, upscaling process data from low TRL, and integrating quantitative LCA modelling with socio-technical systems approaches to make well-founded assumptions about future background markets.
The project is funded by Mistra SafeChem a 4-year research program with an overarching vision to enable and promote the expansion of a safe, sustainable and green chemical industry in Sweden.
The position includes 20% teaching LCA and sustainable development at masters and bachelor level.
