Research engineer in aircraft noise modeling - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

Job description

As part of the REFMAP EU project, this research engineer placement aims to develop models for predicting aircraft noise useful for multi-objective trajectory optimization. The noise model will be implemented based on the aircraft noise numerical code SAFT, which covers several methods for aircraft noise mapping, from an ECAC Doc 29 implementation to more advanced simulation methods. The model should be suitable for computing noise along a given aircraft trajectory and for a given aircraft model. The researcher will also have to interact with other related projects dealing with aircraft trajectory optimization, climate impact, and air quality, which will be based on the mentioned environmental tool. Furthermore, he/she will have the opportunity to be involved in the KTH Centre for Sustainable Aviation (CSA).

Qualifications

Requirements

• A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence in Acoustic/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science, specializing in aircraft noise modeling and computational methods.
• Applicants must be able to work independently, perform critical analysis, and possess good cooperative and communicative skills.
• Excellent English proficiency (spoken and written) since it is used in the daily work.
