Third-cycle subject: Electrical engineering
Among several novel features that will define upcoming 6G networks, there is little doubt that AI is among the most important base technologies. Research in this area is currently exploring three main directions:
1) Replacing specific functions within the radio network stack with AI.
2) Using AI to enable entirely new functionalities in radio systems.
3) Leveraging generative AI to instantiate arbitrary radio network stacks for specific applications.
The Doctoral students will be exploring these topics as part of a collaborative team, working closely with internal researchers and external partners.
The Doctoral students will focus on MAC and link layer aspects of radio networks, while also considering the role of the physical and network layers. The work will involve a mix of theoretical research and practical experiments, giving you the opportunity to contribute to both fundamental and applied advancements in the field.
