Third-cycle subject: Fibre and Polymer Technology
Pulp production from wood is one of the most central processes for producing renewable raw materials that can replace fossil resources such as petroleum. To enhance the role of the forest industry as a carbon sink, it is crucial to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from pulp production. One promising strategy to achieve this is to expand the use of oxygen delignification, so that it can replace all or part of the conventional chemical pulp production process. Preliminary results suggest that high-quality pulp can be produced this way, while also generating a valuable by-product, oxylignin.
The project is funded within the "Emission Free Pulping" project. The doctoral student will be part of the research group in pulp technology and wood chemistry at KTH.
